Gosh I am such a sissy! Something told me not to ride my bike in the dark, I refused to ride after dark like Pat and I had been doing last summer. I will ride during the daylight hours, just before dark. I am afraid to fall. Something is telling me I am going to take a spill on my bike, and after dark just increases the chances tenfold. I am too old to heal. It seems that after dark doesn't matter, you see it was 3 in the afternoon and I wasn't 3 houses away, in the alley as I was testing my bike after a flat tire repair. BAM, I knew I didn't want ever to fall off my bike again because you see I have fallen in the past 3 times to be exact, I remember them all. It is painful! No broken bones, just road rash, the photo doesn't do the injury justice. Alicia was here and she helped me pick out the rocks from my wounds, we used a bottle of peroxide. Pat keeps asking if I want to go to the hospital. (Must be my constant whining) I have a pedal shaped mark on my right shin, just below that is red, and bruised, it was the least of my worries. But now its giving me the most pain. Holy crap, why does this hurt so much? I looked online to see if there was something else I could do to speed up the healing process. and guess what? Our skin is there to protect us. When the skin is removed like mine is, then tiny tiny nerve endings are all exposed. Sounds pretty dramatic when you look at road rash in that way. I've had my share of skinned knees as a child, I don't remember it feeling like it does for me now.
A
site online tells me that peroxide could cause infection. I should be using a Saline wash or best yet Sodium Chloride what ever. I went to the drug store and they tell me you need a prescription for that. I settled for a hard spraying saline wash for cleaning. I didn't get any non-stick bandages, but maybe that was a good thing because when I change the bandages, a few more ROCKS come out of my wounds and stick to the bandage. It's looking pretty clean now, except one small part, perhaps I should go get me a tetanus shot? but one more thing, IT'S THIS STUUUUUPID cat! He keeps rubbing against my legs, and tries to lick the bandages, if you just look at my boo-boos I freak out that you might touch them. This cat is driving me plain nuts.
Alright, enough of my complaining, this is just a warning. We all best just never leave the house, stay our your favorite chair and don't take any chances. Because Road rash is real!!

Ouch! It actually looks like it's starting to heal a little in that picture. Road rash is the worst!
