Went to the Orthopedic Dr on Friday morning looking for answers. I brought the x-rays I had done two months ago. Dr didn't like the views and wanted some with me standing so's he could see just how much space I had with pressure. He tells me I can look forward to my left knee giving me problems soon nuff, then gave me a shot of cortisone in my right knee. The needle didn't bother me but the junk he shot in felt like a giant ball being blown up between the joint and working sorta like a car jack ooooo man the pressure was not good but only lasted until he got all the stuff injected.
I thought I would get some answers but he really had no advise for me what so ever. But I did my own homework and understand that omega-3 in fish and oolong tea and what ever is helpful, of course to lose weight would be less weight on my knee who don't know that? I just don't get when I asked him if he had a diet I could follow that would maybe improve my pain, All he had to say was we all need to just make the right choices. What a turd he was!
Anyway less meat, more greens, I have been doing that since the Diabetes warning I had. I am not losing weight because it hurts like hell to walk, ride the bike, and anything else that moves the body lol . I am telling you it really Friggen Hurts!! Tai chi is slow going for me but I do practice daily.
This Orthopedic Dr also doesn't believe in drug type pain therapy. God forbid I am nearly dead now, do I really care if I become an addict at this time in my life? Jesus, I take one pain pill at bed time and he tells me it's too much. His motto is Fix it instead of covering it up, which is really what I have wanted like forever now it's been pretty bad since June.
Anyway, it's two days since the shot and I can feel a difference the pain is still there but it's tolerable dull not sharp I can walk the steps again. Today I went to the basement to do laundry 6 times. also went shopping and cleaned the stinking bathroom floor. Kinda achey for doing all that but Dr tells me to come back for another shot in April it should last that long, I guess I am lucky because this treatment doesn't always work. As far as I know though, I can only get 3 shots total.
I can see in the future knee replacement is inevitable.

Yikes, Mom! This sounds terrible. I hope the shot is still doing its job. Will knee replacement help with the pain? Why wait? Would it be better to just go ahead with it now if your knees are bothering you that much?
Shot was really helpful, Knee replacement is way way down the line of other options, Right now it's tolerable, just a dull ache In my excitement about getting to Battle Creek, I was running around and gave my knee a twist,it hurt like hell but today it's back much better. I was thinking it would stay hurting but much to my surprise some ice and my tommie copper compression leg sleeve r like really all I need, no pain meds :-)
