37 years, Oh My!

Back when I was 21, I swore I'd never get married or have children. BOY am I ever happy that I changed my mind.
It's funny how Pat and I remember things so differently, he may have to write his own story because this is mine and what I remember. :-)
I met Pat at my brothers wedding in November of 1972, I had a few too many drinks and really don't remember meeting Pat at that time. It took him a whole month to call and ask me for a date for a New Years Eve party. I was pretty nervous to be going out on what I called a blind date for New Years, but I had nothing else to do. Pat asked me to go out a few days before the New Year just to get to know one another a bit, all went well I guess because the Date was on for New Years. He took me to his cousins party where I knew no one and he knew everyone because they were his cousins. I had my hair done and went out and bought a fine new golden slacks outfit made of some kind of sweater like material that sparkled, I was looking ~HOT~ :-)
It was very uncomfortable for me trying to talk to strangers, so Pats cousin Mike decided to break the ice and play a game. "Ugga Bugga* some game he learned in College. The end result of the game was ME sitting on a huge water soaked sponge!!
I was MORTIFIED
I wasn't amused like everyone else was but over the years it's something I still can't forget, yet I have forgiven them all and Love the family dearly.
Pat and I continued to date over the next year, and I was nagging him to why not get married. He kept telling me about the money issue and like er we had none.
I had tried living away from home a few times but never could make it and so I was living at home at the time that we were dating.
He was fresh out of the Army and got into an apartment with 3 other guys.
The guy would never call me until the last minute, like
~ring ring~
me:"Hello?"
Pat:Hey lets go to the show I'll pick you up in 20 minutes.
me: er ok
I was such a sucker, I'd wait and wait by the phone for him to call, sometimes I wouldn't hear from him for a week or more then a sudden call like that really pissed me off but I still waited and waited.
Finally I told him that I couldn't stand being away from him Damnit! Lets get married. He had the same excuse about not nuff cash flow. So I gave up when suddenly out of the blue, I think in the car right at the red light at Dix & Champain st. he said lets get married. SO what next?
No problem, I will I WILL!
We weren't going to tell anyone, but found that we needed two witnesses so we went ahead and asked Pats sister and brother Kevin and Kim.
We went downtown to the city hall on o1/25/1974 and got hitched, found a little apartment all in about one weeks time, and are now living Happily ever after! :0)
Love ya Babe thanks for asking. :-)

Love it! And, yeah, I want to hear Dad's version, too. Also, I want to see a picture of you in that golden slacks/sweater outfit! I'm so glad he asked, too. And that you waited around for his phone calls:)
