Trick or Treat

Kids started coming for treats at 5:30, the city said only until 7:30 so two hours of none stop children. I remember back when I was a kid we started as soon as it got dark and went till 10:00 pm.It was a safe happy time, no worries, I was some what naughty and always had soap to trick those who didn't give out candy, seemed harmless at the time. Neighbors would give us hot cider and invite us in to warm up if the weather was cold and I remember one old couple who made us sing for our treats. My buddy Marilyn and I would sing *
By the light,
of the silvery moon,
I want to spoon,
To my honey I'll croon love's tune.
Honey moon, keep a-shinin' in June.
Your silv'ry beams will bring love's dreams,
We'll be cuddlin' soon,
By the silvery moon.
We knew for sure one day we would end up on a tv show called Star light Stairway, It was the first version of American Idol. I believe it was a Detroit based show, though I can't find it anywhere on the internet. N e way was a nice night for trick or treating.

CORRECTION:
So it really sucks when your memory don't serve you right. I continued to search for the tv show I mentioned, and it kept coming up that the show came out of Spokane WA. That couldn't be right, I was so sure so retyped and sure nuff, I am not crazy. the show was Starlit Stairway. I found many forums with people talking about it, thank goodness, I hate when I think of the ole days and then maybe it was just a wierd dream. hahaha
