About those birds

Not much happening these last few weeks, except my bird watching from the back porch.
All these years of my life I have never really paid attention to the daily life of a bird, I guess it's my old age and how simple things can keep my interest.
The Robin did find a mate, one day I was pulling weeds and stepped over to the nest to have a peek. I saw eggs, but the parent, I am not sure if it was the Mom or Dad but he/she flew over my head peeping like a mad man to get me away from the upcoming brood.
I watched for a long time this morning and the Starlings were messing with the Robins, Mom and Dad were both there doing their best to keep the Starlings away, swooping over them, chirping loudly chasing them away, then two squirrels got too close, I have no idea if the squirrels had baby bird on their breakfast menu, or if they just happened to be there. Poor Parent Robins where busy as busy can be, protecting their Brood.
Later things calmed down and now it seems to be feeding time. One parent would sit on the fence near the nest and just keep guard, while the other was out looking for a tasty morsel, it seemed to me it was taking a very long time. As soon as the Father would return the Mother would fly off to seek food, after he fed the babies, he would sit on the fence until Mom returned, they took shifts never leaving the nest unguarded, until a few hours later I noticed the parents both gone. I quick stole another look into the nest..
Man them babies are something only a Mother could love.

Wow! Great picture! We have a nest of wrens in our backyard. But they are tucked in a little nook and nearly impossible to see. We do hear them peeping every time mama bird comes near though.
